LOEL Winery Ltd, situated in the town of Limassol, was established in 1943 and was the first in Cyprus to be organized in the form of a Public Company with thousands of shareholders the majority of whom were viniculturists. The winery can process up to 25 million kilos of grapes per year.
The first products that could be produced from the indigenous varieties at the beginning of its establishment were spirits and fortified wines.
However, after the enrichment of the Cypriot vineyard with new vine varieties by the Ministry of Agriculture, LOEL, being the first winery, processed these varieties and produced quality table wines with fruity aroma like Palomino, Negro, Moschato and others.
At the same time, LOEL winery planted its own vineyards in the vine-growing areas of Limassol and Paphos with Cypriot and imported vinification varieties such as Maratheftiko, Spourtiko, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and others, for the production of superior quality wines, local, varietal and appellation. In addition to the bottling of wines, LOEL Company pioneered in the production of quality wines at low prices in Tetra Pack. The wine in the packet with the trade name VINOTHEQUE was crowned with success in the local market and abroad.
One of the greatest achievements of LOEL during the last years has been the legal production and supply of LOEL Zivana 45º and Zivana De Luxe 47º. The expertise in distilling and the careful choice of raw material, offers a superior quality product with a unique taste and constant quality that have made it the consumer’s first choice. It has been loved not only by Cypriots but also by all foreigners who visit our island and have tasted it.
Today, LOEL produces quality wines, spirits and juices for the local as well as foreign markets.
