Kolios Winery is one of the largest and most respected wineries on Cyprus, located in the picturesque village of Statos-Ayios Fotios in the Paphos region. Established in 1999 by owner Marios Kolios, the winery sits at an impressive altitude of 3,000 feet near the edge of the Troodos Mountains, approximately one kilometer outside the village toward the Chrysorogiatissa Monastery. The winery’s prime location, combined with its stunning traditional stone architecture, makes it a sought-after destination for wine enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. The family cultivates ten hectares of organic vineyards on the same land their ancestors have farmed for generations, producing nearly 400,000 bottles annually using natural farming methods without chemical fertilizers, insecticides, or herbicides.

The winery features a modern production facility equipped with the latest technology, including a low-pressure pneumatic press and temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. An underground isothermal cellar with a natural spring maintains ideal conditions for wine maturation in oak barrels. Kolios produces a diverse range of award-winning wines, including white varieties like Persefoni (available in dry and medium-dry), the Iris with Spourtiko grapes, and rosé wines such as Cornetto. Their red wine selection features celebrated varieties including Maratheftiko, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Shiraz-Merlot blends. Several of their wines have received gold awards at the Cyprus Wine Competition, including the Persefoni Xynisteri 2016 and the Shiraz/Merlot blend.

Visitors can enjoy guided winery tours followed by traditional meze lunches prepared by Marios’s wife, featuring homemade dishes cooked with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The tavern offers outstanding mountain views and operates Monday through Saturday with reservations required. Wine tasting is complimentary for individuals and costs 5 euros per person for groups. The winery is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and visitors can purchase wines directly at significantly discounted prices compared to retail shops.
