Kyperounda Winery is situated in the picturesque village of Kyperounda in the Pitsilia area of the Troodos Mountains, located 50 kilometers from Limassol and 75 kilometers from Nicosia. Established in the late 1990s by local grape producers and joined by the Photos Photiades Group in 2000, the winery is renowned for its exceptional location at 1,400 meters altitude, making it Europe’s highest winery and one of the highest in the world. This unique elevation creates a microclimate similar to Bordeaux, France, producing superior quality wine grapes. The winery is built on three levels to take advantage of gravity for gentle grape juice movement, and its underground cellar houses 250 French oak barrels where wines mature and develop character.

Today, Kyperounda Winery is owned by over 40 shareholders with management by the Photos Photiades Group, producing approximately 300,000 bottles annually. The winery operates 20 hectares of vineyards and manages an additional 10 hectares under long-term lease agreements, cultivating premium grape varieties including Xynisteri, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. Under the expertise of respected oenologist Minas Mina, the winery has become one of the most awarded wineries in Cyprus, with their Xynisteri wines recognized by influential European wine magazines as among the 50 best wines on the UK market.

The winery offers a diverse range of wines including dry whites, reds, rosés, and the prestigious Commandaria, an ancient unfortified wine style documented in Cyprus since 800 BC. Visitors can experience wine tasting and explore the winery’s commitment to quality winemaking that respects vineyard limitations and soil qualities.
