LOEL Viomichanoi Ltd was established in Limassol in 1943 and holds the distinction of being the first public company in Cyprus, with thousands of shareholders who were predominantly viticulturists. As one of the “Big Four” wine producers that shaped Cyprus’s modern wine industry,

LOEL began by producing spirits and fortified wines from indigenous varieties, and later expanded to create quality table wines including Palomino, Negro, and Muscat. The winery planted its own vineyards across the wine-growing regions of Limassol and Paphos with both Cypriot indigenous varieties such as Maratheftiko, Spourtiko, and Xynisteri, as well as international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc, establishing itself as a major force in Cyprus winemaking.

Today, LOEL produces an extensive range of wines for every taste and budget, with flagship brands including Palomino, Evambelos Gi, and Mesogios Chora, while also producing quality spirits and juices for both local and international markets including Russia, Estonia, Greece, England, America, Singapore, Libya, and Jordan.

A significant recent achievement is LOEL’s state-of-the-art winery facility at Ayios Sila in Limassol, established in 2019 and designed to produce the finest wines from local indigenous varieties using some of the most advanced equipment in Europe. LOEL is particularly renowned as the largest Zivania producer in Cyprus, with their LOEL Zivana 45° and Zivana De Luxe 47° becoming consumer favorites both among Cypriots and visitors to the island. Additionally, LOEL pioneered the production of quality wines in Tetrapak format under the brand Vinotheque, which has achieved significant success in both local and international markets, and is a proud producer of Commandaria Alasia, a protected geographical indication wine available in both classic and vintage varieties that have earned numerous awards including the Great Taste Award in 2016.
