Karseras Family Winery is situated in the picturesque village of Doros within the Commandaria wine region, just 25km from Limassol on the foothills of the Troodos mountains. Established in 1998 by Panayiotis Karseras and his wife Lenia, the winery specializes exclusively in Commandaria, “the world’s oldest named wine still in production.” As one of the first independent family producers to revive this legendary wine, Karseras has become a pioneer in the modern Commandaria movement. The winery is now run by their son Panayiotis and grandson Filippos Karseras, who continue the family’s commitment to producing authentic, high-quality Commandaria using traditional methods. The winery produces approximately 40 tons of Commandaria annually, with a preference for the darker, sweeter version made strictly from the indigenous Mavro grapes. After harvest, the grapes are left in the sun to dry for 7-10 days to concentrate their natural sugars, then fermented into a sweet wine and aged in oak barrels for a minimum of two years in accordance with strict EU Protected Designation of Origin regulations. Visitors can enjoy free wine tastings and tours year-round, with bottles available ranging from the affordable Family Edition (€15) to special limited editions (€150). Karseras Winery represents the new wave […]

Perched at over 1,000 meters above sea level on the eastern slopes of the Troodos Mountains, this boutique producer has become a beacon for those seeking authentic, quality-driven wines that honor Cyprus’s ancient viticultural heritage while embracing contemporary techniques. The 32 villages scattered across the eastern Troodos Mountains benefit from exceptional terroir that few other regions can match. At Ekfraseis, the high-altitude vineyards create the perfect conditions for producing wines of remarkable depth and complexity. The southern slopes of Madari mountain, where Ekfraseis cultivates its vines, offer a rough, rocky terrain that challenges the vines and rewards them with character. This demanding landscape forces the root systems to work harder, concentrating flavors and creating wines with distinctive mineral qualities. The cool mountain nights preserve acidity and freshness, while the intense Mediterranean sun ensures optimal ripeness. This combination of factors creates the ideal microclimate for developing wines with both power and elegance. Indigenous Varieties: […]
